In my Catholics for Obama group, I met a woman named Julie from Kansas, or as she calls it "Bloody red Republican Kansas" She is a devout Catholic and a dedicated Obama supporter. She is a single Mom in a small town. She has watched as the vicious rumors about Obama spread like wildfire in her little town. The lies are outrageous and they are coming so fast and furious that you can't counter them. She just got tired of spending all her energy just being the truth squad. She didn't have time to tell people the positive reasons for supporting Senator Obama.
She wanted to speak out, but she was more than a little scared. She struggled with it for weeks. Finally she talked to her parish priest and got permission to make some comments at last Sundayâs mass. She couldn't endorse a candidate but she could make some general comments on the election and our responsibility as Catholics to choose a wise leader.
